Is It Possible To Make An Effective Homemade Mosquito Trap Without Yeast?

In the list of insects and flies that trouble humans a lot, mosquitoes are certainly right on top. Mosquitoes are not only annoying and suck our blood, but they also cause a lot of deadly diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and others. Out of the many solutions that are used to tackle the threat of mosquitoes, using a homemade mosquito trap is considered to be the best one. This trap not only ensures that mosquitoes are attracted towards it but also does not allow them to escape from it.

Ingredients Used In The Homemade Mosquito Trap

There are four main ingredients that are used in creating the mosquito trap. These are a plastic bottle cut from the top, hot and cold water, brown sugar and yeast. Among all these ingredients, yeast is the most important one as it enhances the effectiveness of the mosquito trap. It is, therefore, almost impossible to make a good homemade mosquito trap without yeast. A mosquito trap that uses anything else apart from yeast may not perform as well as required.

Importance Of Using Yeast In A Homemade Mosquito Trap

Yeast is the most important ingredient in the mosquito trap as it causes the mosquitoes to come and approach the trap in the first place. The main reason why mosquitoes are attracted to humans is the carbon dioxide that we exhale. On coming in contact with the sugar that is added to the mixture in the mosquito trap, yeast also emits the same gas. The gas gets released into the atmosphere and mosquitoes get attracted to it in the hope that they will find food. Instead of finding food, mosquitoes get stuck in a place from which they are unable to come out. This makes yeast the pivotal ingredient for making the mosquito trap successful in its task.

Things To Remember To Ensure The Yeast Works Properly

The importance of yeast in making a mosquito trap cannot be denied; however, there are certain things that must be kept in mind to ensure the yeast is properly utilized. The first thing is that the yeast must not be added to boiling or warm water as it will end up killing the yeast and it will be of no use. One more thing that you need to ensure is that you do not stir the yeast that has been added to the mixture of water and brown sugar and instead allow it to settle down. Following these two steps will ensure that the yeast produces adequate amount of carbon dioxide to attract mosquitoes towards the trap.
Making a homemade mosquito trap without yeast may not be a very good idea considering the role played by the yeast in making the trap work successfully.
